The island is only 14km away across the Ile d’Oléron bridge! You can enjoy the superb views as you cross the bridge across the River Seudre and the viaduct bridge linking the Ile d’Oléron to the mainland.
There is a wide variety of attractions for tourists on the island: markets selling excellent local produce, the fish market at la Cotinière, lighthouses, oyster farming villages and theme parks to visit and an exceptional network of walking trails and cycle tracks.
Explore on foot, by bike, by boat, take a cruise to the islands of Aix and Ré and visit the fortifications of Fort Louvois and Fort Boyard and citadels of Vauban. There are many other attractions that will catch your imagination, such as the town of Brouage, the Château and the Chassiron lighthouse, the Antioche beacon and the many marshland bird reserves.
