Near the emblematic seaside resort of Royan is a natural bay dominated by the la Coubre lighthouse, a site that is well worth a visit. La Palmyre Les Mathes is surrounded by 8,000 hectares of pine forest on the edge of 30 km of fine sandy beaches.
La Palmyre offers beaches to suit everyone, from the sheltered family beaches of the bay de Bonne Anse to the vast stretches of the Côte Sauvage.
The sheltered family beaches of the bay de Bonne Anse are ideal for bathing and sailing. At the foot of the La Coubre lighthouse stretches the vast beach of the Côte Sauvage and its 20 km of fine sand. Facing straight onto the ocean, it is a paradise for surf enthusiasts and is ideal for a more bracing dip and the discreet charms of naturism.
The Commune of Les Mathes-La Palmyre is surrounded by the national forests of
les Combots and la Coubre, with a total of 8,000 hectares of maritime pines and evergreen oaks. A wide choice of family activities is available in the centre of the resort, including sporting activities, theme parks for children and adults and the little tourist train.
More than 40 km of tarmacked cycle tracks, mountain bike and off road bike routes criss- cross the forest in total safety, from Saint Palais sur Mer to La Tremblade.
There are attractions to delight young and old: zoo, accrobranche park, luna park and the little tourist train...
A few metres away from the marina, the water sports team at the Club are ready to welcome all those who love skimming across the water (surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, optimist dinghies…)
